The Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Blogosphere
I gave a talk this past weekend called “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Blogosphere” at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The presentation was a multi-media journey through the exciting universe of blogs. I introduced attendees to 20 of the most extraordinary and interesting blogs around today. I was able to take people behind the scenes to learn the stories of the people who run the blogs.
Instead of telling you the whole stories behind each blog, I’ve posted a video to go with each featured blog. You can easily google these people or find out more about them on their websites/blogs. Hopefully you’ll discover a few blogs that you’ll want to follow, and who knows, you might even want to start your own blog!
Please leave a comment below and let me know your favourites!
Also, come back to my blog soon, as my next blog post will be on how to find the best blogs. Hint: One way is to check out winners from blog awards.
1. Angela Aiello – iYellow Wine Club

2. Gary Vaynerchuck – Wine Library TV
tv.winelibrary.com
Gary wrapped up his 1,000th Wine Library TV episode just this past spring, and then moved over to his “Daily Grape” iPhone Application where he also posted videos and wine reviews. He then announced his official retirement from daily wine video blogs at the end of August, but you’ve still got a ton of videos to explore!
3. 65 Red Roses
65redroses.livejournal.com
Sadly, Eva Markvoort’s blog “65 Red Roses” is no longer run by Eva as she passed away March 27, 2010. It is now run by her family, but well worth exploring.
4. Julie Powell – Julie & Julia
juliepowell.blogspot.com
You can no longer access Julie’s original Jule & Julia Blog, but she still keeps this blog.
5. Reb Stevenson

6. Facehunter – Yvan Rodic

7. Style Rookie – Tavi Gevinson

Brock’s 24 HR Film Festival Audience Choice Winner!
Mar 14th
I attended the Communication, Popular Culture & Film (CPCF) Society’s 24 Hour Film Festival this past Thursday night, and below is a video of the runner up and Audience Choice award winner, which was really entertaining.
Their film is called “Robots Need Love Too” and it was based on the festival’s theme: “overheard.” Team’s were given the theme and only had 24 hours to script, film, edit and process their submissions.
I co-founded the Society in my last year at Brock and I’m so proud that it’s still around and serving students. The festival took place at the Empire Theatre in St. Catharines and it was to a packed audience; about 200 people attended and 14 films were screened in total. It was a great event and congrats the film makers, actors, judges and society’s executive and volunteers for putting on such a memorable event.
For more about the festival you can read last week’s front page feature article in the Brock Press here: “Brock’s 24 Hour Artists”

Robots Need Love Too from Lindsay Gray on Vimeo.
Our 2010 Brock University 24 Hour Film Festival movie!
We won Runner Up by the judges, and Audience Choice! Felt like first!
The theme this year was “overheard” but we didnt want to make a serious typical movie like everyone else, so we gave ourselves our own them of incorporating a robot we had made!
I think it turned out awesome!
I am so so proud of this, and had the best time making it!
thanks to everyone that helped out!
Enjoy!

Pax Featured in Brock Alumni Video
Feb 23rd
Back in early fall 2009 (Ah, I miss the warm weather) I was interviewed by Brock University for this promo video. The video was taken at “Reunion Station” just after Ange Aiello and I spoke at the Annual Alumni Association Luncheon. I had a good time and I hope to make it again next year. You’ll find me at 2:44
